Working Party Report
Longhoughton Goods Yard - BS, DMS, DT, TS, IC, KSW, RJ, tidying access road and yard; moving materials; laying out sidings; cleaning the Mk 1 roof; rubbing down Mk 1 sides; sweeping glass shards out the Mk 2s; covering window apatures on Mk 2s; check over rail crane, Baz continued painting the interior of the Mark 1, and was joined and assisted by Big Dave. Dave & Ian popped over to the cottages to collect materials for transfer to Longhoughton, on return the “”grey water”" pipe on the mk 1 was extended. They also swapped out some more materials on road 1 to give more useable siding space. Tom undertook some more refubishment on Scarth. Roland worked on the checking over of the crane’s gears. Kay contined tidying up the Mk 2s and also undertook some beutification to the Ruston 165DE.

Longhoughton Goods Yard - BS, DMS, KSW, TS, IC, MH, tidying access road and yard; moving materials; relaying siding 2; cleaning the Mk 1 roof; rubbing down Mk 1 sides; sweeping glass shards out the Mk 2s; covering window apatures on Mk 2s; repairs to rail crane, Baz continued on the interior of the Mark 1. Dave S & Ian used Ians mini 360° to modify road 1, slewing it over to a new alignment ready for road 2 to be relaid. stock was also shunted to better locations. Mark & Tom affixed tarps onto the mark 2 TSO. Kay contined tidying up the Mk 2s and also undertook some beutification to the Ruston 165DE.

Longhoughton Goods Yard - BS, DMS, IC, KSW, RJ, TS, DT, MH, tidying access road and yard; moving materials; laying out sidings; cleaning the Mk 1 roof; rubbing down Mk 1 sides; sweeping glass shards out the Mk 2s; covering window apatures on Mk 2s; check over rail crane;, Baz and Dave S tidied up Northumbria Rail’s staff coach (Mk 1 BSK), and exchanged the regulator on the propane for a 37mbar one and tested the cooker by boiling the kettle for a brew! Baz applied some more paint to the “”clean”" half. Dave S moved a few bits & pieces in the Mk 2 BFK, and swept up a bit more glass, but ran out of bags to put the shards in. Ian, Baz and Dave S dismantled the southern-most four panels of road 2 and stockpiled the materials ready for the line to be relayed over the next few weekends with a new alignment and inset into the yard. Tom and Mark covered the Mk 2 BFK with tarpulins. Roland did some oiling round and cleaning on NR’s rail crane, and was joined by Dave S and Ian after dinner and the jib was slewed. The two front counterweights were lifted out to enable access to the slewing brake; this has now been removed to be cleaned up. The surrounding area has also been cleaned up and the water drain off holes unblocked and the detritus cleaned out. Baz made a start at installing some new shelves and work benches in the Mk 1 BSK, while Kay and Dave T made a start on removing the seats from inside the Mk 2 TSO in order that the floor can be checked.

Longhoughton Goods Yard - BS, DMS, TS, DT, KSW, IC, tidying access road and yard; moving materials; laying out sidings; cleaning the Mk 1 roof; rubbing down Mk 1 sides; sweeping glass shards out the Mk 2s; covering window apatures on Mk 2s; check over rail crane; , The clean end of the Mk 1 staff coach was cleared of most moveable items and the old paint rubbed down, and a new coat applied. More of the glass and debries was swept up out of 5210 (the Mk 2TO) and the majoity of the passenger doors were unlocked, opened, cleaned and then closed and locked up again. Some tidying was also undertaken in 35506 (the Mk2c BFK) to make it a little safer to walk through - again the side doors were checked over. The dumper had some more work done to its blown air cooling system. The Ruston 165DE had some more areas masked ready for lining out. A bit of discussion about plans, ideas, etc. too. A First 87 passed on a Tattoo charter, returning tomorrow.
