Longhoughton Goods Yard - BS, DMS, IC, KSW, RJ, TS, DT, MH, tidying access road and yard; moving materials; laying out sidings; cleaning the Mk 1 roof; rubbing down Mk 1 sides; sweeping glass shards out the Mk 2s; covering window apatures on Mk 2s; check over rail crane;, Baz and Dave S tidied up Northumbria Rail’s staff coach (Mk 1 BSK), and exchanged the regulator on the propane for a 37mbar one and tested the cooker by boiling the kettle for a brew! Baz applied some more paint to the “”clean”" half. Dave S moved a few bits & pieces in the Mk 2 BFK, and swept up a bit more glass, but ran out of bags to put the shards in. Ian, Baz and Dave S dismantled the southern-most four panels of road 2 and stockpiled the materials ready for the line to be relayed over the next few weekends with a new alignment and inset into the yard. Tom and Mark covered the Mk 2 BFK with tarpulins. Roland did some oiling round and cleaning on NR’s rail crane, and was joined by Dave S and Ian after dinner and the jib was slewed. The two front counterweights were lifted out to enable access to the slewing brake; this has now been removed to be cleaned up. The surrounding area has also been cleaned up and the water drain off holes unblocked and the detritus cleaned out. Baz made a start at installing some new shelves and work benches in the Mk 1 BSK, while Kay and Dave T made a start on removing the seats from inside the Mk 2 TSO in order that the floor can be checked.
